Hello there~ My name is Sara and I have been a nurse since 2001. My career started out in the NICU after I had the honor of having a CNA job in our local neonatal unit. Once I saw that unit existed..... I was hooked!
I have focused my professional efforts on improving the patient and family experience. I have successfully developed family advisory councils, a bereavement committee, a family support transport program, parent curriculum, staff education, and much more. I am a published author, both of scholarly articles and a nursing text book. I am a National Speaker on all topics related to family support and most recently I have also had the honor of collaborating with The National Perinatal Association and the NICU Parent Network in creating and hosting an online educational program that focuses on not only the importance of providing psychosocial support to NICU and Laboring families, but more importantly HOW to provide psychosocial support while simultaneously proving high quality medical care.
My cup is full when I get to educate and support staff and when I get to support families through education, resource sharing and peer to peer connections.
I am married, have two teen/pre-teen boys, live in BEAUTIFUL Bend, Oregon and couldn't be more blessed with the career I have had!
